Even though we had been out and about for 6 hours on Saturday, Amanda and I were in the mood to do some more exploring...so on Sunday we set out for another 4 1/2 hours around the city! We took the metro to the other side of town then got off and just started walking. There were a lot of sites we had already seen in passing in that area, but we decided to take our time and really see them. There were also a lot of areas that we hadn't been to yet, or didn't know how they all connected, but with our map and sense of direction, we had no problem getting around...and we didn't even get lost!

Piazza Barberini

A quiet-ish park where we stopped to eat lunch - I loved all the daisies in the grass!

Quirinale Palace (on the left) - according to Amanda's guide book, this is where the president sort of lives...yeah. We're not sure, but that's Italy for ya! And we still haven't figured out how we've been here for 2 months and have never seen this before...

Trevi Fountain...with way too many tourists :(

The Pantheon - the first two kings of united Italy, as well as Raphael, are buried here...we've been studying the unification of Italy in my history class, so this definitely brought history to life for me! On second thought, maybe not so much. (Corny, I know...haha...couldn't help myself.)
Ciao for now!

Wow...what sites. I am glad you got out with Amanda and explored.
That's the best way to see a city...being spontaneous.
