What happened? Okay, so here it goes...
My photography class met at Campo dei Fiori (an outdoor market during the day) to shoot for class. It was a little chilly that morning, but at least the sun was out! That is, only for a short time...within about 45 minutes the skies started looking a bit ominous. So our professor rounded us all up (or so she thought) and we set off for a museum to see a photography exhibit just as it started to rain. We were halfway across the footbridge when we realized we were missing one student. The rain had let up, but as we were waiting on the bridge, it started to hail! Yes, hail. None of knew that was really possible for the Mediterranean, but alas...I tried getting pictures, but the hail didn't last long. It quickly turned back to rain, and continued to rain as the sun started to break through the clouds. By the time we left the museum, we had heard the rumblings of a thunderstorm, the wind picked up, and the tempurature dropped. (Getting to the bus stop was not fun.) When we finally got to campus we probably looked a little like we had been through war. And to make it even weirder, when I left campus after class about 2 hours later, the sun was shining like it had never even rained!
Now if the weather wasn't enough for a weird day, Amanda and I made a pretty dumb mistake. While at Campo, our professor had said it would be a great time for us to buy produce if anyone wanted to. There was a stand with dried fruit, so we jumped at the opportunity. We didn't jump though, when we saw the price (after selecting our fruit): 20 euro! Yeah, we were a little surprised too...guess that's what happens when you don't really understand the weights system, haha. We've just been creative with all the ways we can eat the dried fruit to make it last...you'd be amazed at how versatile that stuff is!
So after our very adventurous morning, I decided to head back to the apartment to relax...psh, right. Time to do some laundry! And no, that does not mean in the laundry room. The last time we tried that, it wasn't so pretty...and left our whites not so white. So we've resorted to the bathtub. Pretty great way to cut costs, huh? Yeah...
Needless to say, it was an adventurous day. Kinda crazy, but worth the adventure, and looking back on it, it was a ton of fun. And as each day here is going to show...you just gotta live and learn!
Ciao for now!
